Our programs provide basic needs assistance, build family resilience, and create pathways to stability through education, housing support, and economic empowerment through employment.
Stabilize
To ease the trauma of entering shelter, we provide families with essential supplies including MetroCards for travel to work, school supplies, tutoring, food, clothing (including school uniforms and new coats each year through our Winter Giveaway, with hats, scarves, and gloves), furniture and more.
Support
Our moms need—but often lack—the basic life skills that help deal with the challenges of their personal, educational or professional lives.
We run a number of programs to support these families' growth, and to help them recognize and break self-defeating habits: financial literacy courses; parenting skills workshops; a summer enrichment camp for our teens; and more.
Sustain
Finally, we offer a suite of programs designed to create sustainable change for our moms and kids.
For moms, this means job training at our retail store tth Vintage Boutique, job interview workshops (coming soon) and consulting on workwear.
For kids, we have our Learning Center, offering free tutoring, meals & educational trips 6 days a week.
